Q: Why should I come to NewCon Oz?

A: If you’ve never been to a tabletop gaming convention before, NewConOz is the place to go. Conventions are a great way to try out new games, and they provide the chance to meet new gamers. No prior rules knowledge is required for most of our games.

Many of our attendees have developed regular gaming groups with people they’ve met at NewConOz. If you find you’re keen to continue with the hobby, the organisers of NewConOz are all experienced gamers, who can offer you advice on all things tabletop hobby related.

Q: What is the expected Con Etiquette?

A: The event organisers expect all attendees to behave in a mature and respectful way. NewConOz is a family friendly event, and attendees should conduct themselves in a manner that befits the social and family friendly environment we hope to foster. Keep the simple motto “Be Excellent To Each Other” in mind!

A brief note about props: We love when people dress up and come in cosplay! However, please be aware that there will be many other people in the room during NewConOz and we respectfully request you do not bring overly large, awkward or dangerous cosplay props or weapons that could potentially be a hazard to other attendees.

Q: Is NewCon Oz kid friendly?

A: Yes! Everyone is welcome to NewCon Oz. There will even be dedicated family games on Sunday morning!

We do however ask that anyone 14 and under is accompanied by an adult.

Q: How much does NewCon Oz cost?

A: Entry is free, scheduled events will have a fee ($8 per RPG session, some smaller events may have cheaper pricing) associated with them. There will also be a board game library where you can borrow a game for a gold coin donation.

Q: How do I register for a scheduled event?

A: We use Warhorn to ensure everyone gets the right game at the right time. You can register for sessions by clicking the Warhorn link in the menu. If you do not already have a Warhorn account, registration is free and only takes a few moments (you can even sign-in using Facebook or Google accounts). Once registered, find the games / sessions you are interested in and sign up. It’s that simple!
